Hobbies and Interests:
● I like to read and write stories as well as play video games. My favorite subject is Environmental Science and I’m currently planning on majoring in Global Disease Biology at UC Davis.

1) How has Dr. Lo and the staff at East Bay Vision Center helped shape your experience with Ortho-K?

“I started using Ortho-K under Dr. Lo’s care back in 2011 when I was 8 years old. Dr. Lo is very kind and her instructions are very clear. Ever since I first started with Ortho-K, Dr. Lo has taught me what I should do and how I should maintain my eye health such as sleeping enough hours and taking breaks from digital devices. Ortho-K has made its way into my daily routine and I do not think that I can live without it.”

2) Personally, what benefits of Ortho-K are you happiest about?

“Since I have a family medical history of severe nearsightedness, the Ortho-K lenses helped stabilize my vision a lot. The Ortho-K lenses are great for me because I wake up the next day with clearer vision and I do not need to wear glasses. I’m happiest about not wearing glasses because they tend to not fit well on my face and the Ortho-K lenses allow me to feel like myself. ”

3) What was your experience like learning to use Ortho-K lenses and how would you describe your comfort with the contact lenses now?

“Back when I first started learning how to use the lenses, it did take me some time to adjust. I did feel uncomfortable about the feeling of the lenses as they are much harder than the soft daily lenses, but after using them for about 10 years now, they feel normal to me. Right now, my lenses feel just right and I can wear them when I go to bed without feeling any discomfort. If I do feel an air bubble or some dust, I can reapply them quickly. ”

4) What would you tell someone younger who has been recommended Ortho-K treatment by their optometrist, but they are on-the-fence about committing to it?

“Ortho-K is magical, it allows you to see without glasses or soft lenses for the majority of the day. You can wear them when you go to sleep and take them off in the morning seeing things clearer. It helped stabilize my eyesight so that my prescription would not be as much as my relatives.”
