1) How has Dr. Lo and the staff at East Bay Vision Center helped shape your experience with Ortho-K?

“The process of getting fitted for [Ortho-K] lenses was very simple and easy. Check ups were also simple and easy, and wearing them at night was a simple routine to get used to. Dr. Lo explained the whole process and how Ortho-K could help my eyes stabilize with my current prescription. I haven’t needed new glasses in over 4 years!”

2) Personally, what benefits of Ortho-K are you happiest about?

“As a swimmer, it was important for me to be able to see the pool markers during practices and competitions, and Ortho-K helped reduce the hassle of glasses, prescription goggles, or soft lenses. It was also convenient while doing outdoor activities, where I didn’t have to worry about traditional issues with soft lenses. The convenience of an overnight solution to my vision problems without needing to count days between my last pair of contacts is great.”

3) What was your experience like learning to use Ortho-K lenses and how would you describe your comfort with the contact lenses now?

“I learned about Ortho-K back in high school and I was (and still am) surprised that not many people know about it as a solution to vision problems. I am very comfortable with them now - they’ve been incorporated into my daily routine. I even feel strange whenever I forget to put them in!”

4) What would you tell someone younger who has been recommended Ortho-K treatment by their optometrist, but they are on-the-fence about committing to it?

“Absolutely do it! It’s really easy to get used to (very minimal discomfort) and something that you can do while getting ready for/getting up from bed. They pack away easily (just like soft lenses) and are easy to put on and take off even during camping. Best of all, you have nothing to worry about during the rest of the day, like losing your glasses or getting something stuck under soft contacts!”
